Company Profile
In 1974, we moved the lock equipment from our family's locksmith business B. D. Rackliffe, Inc., which had recently closed due to my grandfather's death, from Springfield Massachusetts to Westbrook Connecticut. With that equipment and help from my great uncle Robert Rackliffe, also a locksmith in Springfield, we started anew here on the shoreline. We had a locksmith shop in Westbrook for 8 years, then going mobile only for 7 years, then back to a shop in Old Saybrook for 5 years.
Family History
Here's a listing from the 1867 Middletown Directory showing William Rackliffe as a gun and lock smith and tobacconist. He was my great, great grandfather, my family's first locksmith!
